The Advisory Board is the link of the CRETAPLANT Project with the local, regional and national administrative authorities. It is a forum for the exchange of information and ideas on the micro-reserves and their conservation and contributes towards meeting the lack of wider community esteem on conservation and management efforts at regional and national level.
The Advisory Board is comprised by 9 members: the Project Manager (chair), the Director (or his officially appointed stand-in) of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania, the Director (or his officially appointed stand-in) of the Forest Directorate of Chania, the official representative of the Natural Environment Department, Ministry of the Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works, the official representative of the General Secretariat of Forests and Natural Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and four officially appointed representatives of the Regional and Local Authorities.
The nomination of the Advisory Board (AB) was implemented by the Project Manager in October 2004.
The role of the AB is advisory on all administrational and technical matters with specific emphasis to the information campaign and the relations with the local people and groups of interest. The members of the AB are in continuous, informal contact with the Project Manager (and his Deputy) who is held responsible for the efficient briefing of the AB on all relevant matters. Four official meetings of the AB took place during the Project implementation period.
